DRITËRO KASAPI

 

I am educated as a stage director at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje, Macedonia, but since the early years of my professional life I have also been engaged as a cultural organiser.
 

As an artist I have my primary focus on stage directing. I am interested in exploring the relationship between the individual and the society and I do this both through new written and classical plays. To whom I am telling the story is just as important to me as with whom I am telling it.

For many years I have also worked on TV-drama as a writer, director and artistic director. This is something that I would like to explore more in the future.

I have flirted with visual arts, which has for the most part given me very good perspective to my work in theatre.

I founded and led CTC, a unique theatre in the hart of Skopje, and I have also led GDT a theatre for children and youth in Uppsala Sweden. Engaging people in joint movements to create art, cultural actions and dialogue has been my driving force. 

 

From 2015 - 2018 I was the deputy artistic director at Kulturhuset Stadstetern in Stockholm. From november 2018 I am the artistic director at Riksteatern (The National Touring Theatre of Sweden).
